***************************
Seeing that UpNtheNuves was M.I.A for Sugar Part 1 can you tell our readers what they can expect from the Sugar Events?
Haha! You never know what to expect at Sugar. A few things you can expect are a massive amount of talent and an amazing energy swirling about the room! The night will consist of a photography and art showcase featuring 15 of L.A.'s emerging female artists and photographers. Followed by a fashion show featuring 10 local female designers. The evening will be topped off with a live performance by the upcoming group, CRAZEDOTCOM. DJ Tessa Young will bring us that live party vibe as she spins throughout the evening. The first Sugar was described as a, "Andy Warhol type event," by a local reporter.
How will Sugar Part 2 be different from the first?
Sugar Part Duex is growing! Due to the success of the first show, we were able to get more designers and artists on board. Though, we keep some of the same designers and artists....we always try to get fresh talent at each Sugar. Each new designer, artist, and photographer brings a new energy and vibe. We will also have a vintage style photo booth on deck for guests to take their pics, which will be provided by urbansalt.com.
What designers, if any, have shown at Sugar before?
Hide Your Feathers by Chantala Parris, Bedouin, 1981 Collection, and Rock Thiz Clothing are the only returning desigers. Everybody else involved are showcasing for the fist time at Sugar.
Which designers are you excited to see? New and/or Old?
Honestly, I am looking forward to seeing everybody's lines. I'm excited to see what creations everybody has conjured, but but but....I will say I am truly looking forward to seeing, Candy Spooky Clothing and Tis Not I!
What artists, if any, have shown at Sugar before?
The returning artists are Michelle Chan, Booleep by Nicole Palmquist, and Monica Roache.
Which artists are you excited to see? New and/or Old?
Like I said before.....all of the art truly excites me, but I'm particularly excited to see Michelle Chan's work this time around. I heard that she has taken a new direction with her art, and I'm looking forward to seeing her transformation.
What's your role @ the Sugar Event?
I am the founder and coordinater of Sugar. My duties involve recruiting the fashion designers, entertainment, artists, models, MUA's, and hairstylists Although, I do have a partner, Nathan Lietner, that helps take some of the weight off of me. I also have the help of a few friends that help with the production of the fashion show....Olive Cramer, Megan Bea, Nicole Lietner, and Belinda Mercer. Without their help I would be running around like a mad woman!!! On the day of the event...I am just making sure everything runs smoothly and everybody is taken care of and having a good time. I am hoping to enjoy myself more this time around!!!!
Last But not Least, Why should the UpNtheNuves readers attend this Event?
Sugar is an inexpensive and innovative way to enjoy all of the arts at one venue. For $7 or $10, not only are they supporting the arts, they're getting an art and photography showcase, a fashion show, a live performance, and a dj!!! That is unheard of!!! It truly is an amazing thing, and I think everybody should experience Sugar at least once!
