Find What You're Looking For

Stuck in a slump

I've been feeling real frumpy lately. I can't say what exactly I'm waiting for, because ultimately it's a lifestyle that I choose. I guess am afraid of succeeding in life because otherwise why would I be sabotaging myself? I've been a homebody for far too long. Tomorrow will be different. I'm going on a bike ride to a workshop at Cal State L.A. It's a workshop geared for women and empowerment. I'm very excited! It's been far too long of me avoiding the streets and connecting with others on something more than a business or intimate relationship. Yay for tomorrow. Here's an instant frump Friday foto.

For the times that you question your strength

Just remember, it can only get better.

Sometimes you have to say "ok"

There is a time & a place for everyone's happiness. The moment you commit to it, it's yours for as long as you want it. Be happy to stay happy, stay happy to be happy.

Enjoy each day as a blessing, anything less is selling yourself short.

Music, it's in my blood.

Something you may not know about me is that I am a classically trained violinist. My father is a percussionist & my brother makes beats. From time to time, I produce my own music, some of which I post on my soundcloud account. So, when I come across music that I appreciate, I know the best way to love it, is to share it.
Here is a video of E.V. Dub. He is a talented musician out in Los Angeles, CA. This might just be cover to some, but the emotion, the time, & talent must be recognized.

Sugar Does Portland

I've gotten such a great feedback from those involved to those at home checking out my designs. The reason I am a designer is because I believe it is in us all to create. I make clothing out of already made wear, I stitch & fold, cut & change everything about something that is already in existence. Being able to create something out of something is what I'm about: making something work from something that would normally be overlooked.
Here are some more photos that have been taken from my participation at the Sugar does Portland show on February 10th at Refuge - PDX.

Christina is wearing a "jump suit" dress. I made all of the Accessories & Clothing. Johanna is wearing a hoodie made entirely out of recycled fabrics, a top that has been shredded bottom to the mid-section. A skirt made of 5 pant bands. Genesy is also rocking a hood made from recyclable fabrics, a mini-pleated skirt, a red cropped top, & a silk-screened jean vest.

Oh! How I love what I do!

Now that it is all said and done,....

I want to make sure that I thank everyone who made the Fashion & Art show possible. From the venue owner, to the make-up artists, the sound engineers & music performances. The models, hair stylists, designers & organizers.. Thank you! I've got a good 11 hours left on this train trip back home, it's been a good ride but I'm glad to get back home.
Ta-ta for now <3

On the train to Portland

It's 3:05 pm in California, I'm about 6 hours away from reaching The bay area via this Amtrak train. I worked last night at The Airliner for blank Tuesday. I had a good time watching the bands and socializing with the people that attended. Here's a foto from last night and one from on the train.

I am a video girl

I'm in this video that my Bidnez partner Sabella Feliz Arroyo made of the paint session she hosted in her room.

Moving on up

I'm in the midst of moving out of my apartment & transitioning, as well as, preparing for a life on the road.  It's Sunday, February 4th. My move out date is on the 20th of this month & I leave for the Sugar does Portland show on the 8th to return on the 13th in time for ______ Tuesday on the 14th.

My, oh, my. Aren't I in for a wild time?
I've picked & packed very little. It's an overwhelming yet underwhelming experience. It has to get done...sooner than later.

For all you visual learners, here's what I'm up against.

It's atrocious, I know.
It is a nostalgic task at hand, although the rewards of it getting done are significant.

Tomorrow will mark the One Year Anniversary from the last time a comment was posted on my blogspot. Much of which lies on the lack of commitment I've dedicated to the blog over the past year.

This year, I vow to stay committed & be true to myself.
The storm has passed & the sun kept shining.

RAW talent : Savion Glover

I came across the name of this talented tap dancer while watching the sitcom "Martin". I was so impressed. Tap dancing is something that I've wanted to learn for a some time. I plan on learning how to tap dance but for now here's a video of Savion Glover. Enjoy.

The High Road

In Oct. 2009 I got a DUI. Yeah, it's true. I got locked up overnight, my car impounded, released the next morning & was in for a life changing experience.

I had to enroll in DUI classes, do 90 hours of community labor, attend AA meetings, & on top of paying thousands of dollars to the courts, I had to live with the stigma of having a DUI.

I quickly realized that I, Linda Vanessa Tovar, am an alcoholic. I managed to stay sober for 6 months straight. It was the most embarrassing & degrading times of my life. I quickly began to loath even having a thought of anything alcoholic, eventually leading to drink again. I've since done a great job in monitoring and being a responsible drinker. The experience has taught me  lot about our government/court system, revealed  lot of truths about myself in which I'm taking the steps to being a better human being.

I can only hope that people consider drinking and driving a serious matter. I really appreciate and admirer my friends and co-workers that are responsible individuals. I'm happy to have them as role models. Be safe out there.
